As the excitement of the 2024 Summer Olympics unfolded on the global stage, our team decided to bring the competitive spirit into the kitchen with our very own Culinary Olympics! Over three thrilling weeks, we invited our followers and clients to participate in the ultimate food showdown, helping us crown the champions in various culinary categories. From appetizers to desserts, the competition was fierce, the flavors were bold, and the votes were plentiful.
In celebration of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games we thought it would be fun to put a culinary spin on the games and bring some summer fun for our followers!
First, Meet The Chefs gave you the Dream Team of culinary experts on our team! From our Executive Chef, Bryan Wilson to a number of Master Sous Chefs, our kitchen team is second to none! Each team member brings their own unique talents, skillset and specialty in our catering kitchen.
Bryan focuses on seasoning dishes to perfection and owning the R&D behind our menus!
Beth is the master of our handmade rolls and has been queened as such in our kitchen!
Kay is responsible for all of our handmade desserts and bakes her heart out!
Judy is our secret taste-tester -- always making sure every dish is "chef's kiss"!
Jim is our grill master who is always making sure we get the best flavors from our grill and smoker!
You even got a BTS look at our chef's in action in the kitchen! From chopping herbs to perfecting our piping skills, the team brought their A-Game over the course of these Culinary Olympic games!
After meeting the Chefs, we wanted to show you a behind-the-scenes look at our very own kitchen space! Yes, this small family business makes all of our food from a quaint kitchen at the family home in London, Ohio. Hudson's Edge focuses on farm-to-table cuisine where we craft dishes that are fresh, local and simple!
Our small but mighty kitchen takes in the fresh ingredients in our unloading garage, keeps them cold in our walk-in cooler before making their way to our prep areas and stove top / oven spaces where all the cooking magic happens! Then, don't forget the ever important dish station where everything gets a squeaky clean touch before the next round!
We kicked off our Culinary Olympics with a focus on the starters—the small bites that set the stage for any great meal. The competition was broken down into different rounds highlighting to best of the best of our Appetizer menu! Our followers were asked to vote on flavorful variations in each category:
After a day of fan/follower-voting, our Crostini Creations Podium ended with the Raspberry & Brie Crostini taking home the Gold!
Next up were the Cold Appetizers, showcasing an array of refreshing and elegant bites:
These sophisticated appetizers brought out the foodie in all of us, with our Artisan Charcuterie Board AND Fruit Martinis giving us a Gold Medal tie!
We showcased the fun and flavor of Snackable Skewers—a crowd-pleasing category that’s perfect for any event. Our skewer lineup included:
The votes were tallied, and the ever-popular Candied Bacon skewered the competition to take home the gold! It wasn't the easiest take-away win, however, with BOTH the Jerk Pineapple and Shrimp Skewers tying for the Silver Medal along with our Mini Chicken and Waffle Skewers!
To close out Week 2, we turned up the heat with our Hot Appetizers:
Once again, our followers had the tough task of choosing a favorite. The final votes crowned the Chicken Croquettes as the winner in this sizzling category.
The final week of our Culinary Olympics brought the excitement to a climax with our Main Menu Showdown. We asked our followers to vote on their favorite salads, ranking top honors and then also selecting our Entrees and Side Dish winners through a “This or That” poll, helping us build the ultimate Gold Medal Menu.
We hosted a refreshing Salad Showdown to highlight our fresh and vibrant options:
The decision was tough, but ultimately our Cucumber Parmesan Greens Salad emerged as the salad champion, securing a place on our Gold Medal Menu.
Our Main Menu Showdown featured top Entrees and Side Dishes that are the top tier contenders of a great meal. Broken down into different rounds highlighting the best of the best of our menu! Our followers were asked to vote on mouth-watering dishes and here are the results:
The votes poured in, and we had our winners, which we’ll reveal on our finalized Gold Medal Menu below!
Finally, we finished on a sweet note with our Dessert Showdown. Our homemade treats went head-to-head for the final crown. With so many desserts and categories to choose from, our desserts were split into 2 rounds:
